

Versie Lee Sanders Williams was born November 24, 1921, to the union of Arthur Sanders, Sr. and Versie
Thurmond Sanders in Lexington, Mississippi. She was the sixth child of the twelve and the third girl. Versie is preceded in
death by both parents, husbands, Lonnie Roberts and Earl, Sr.,, two sons, Lawrence Roberts, Sr. and Arvid Sanders., eight
siblings: Ann, Melvin, Rosa, Willie, Theodore, Arthur, Jr., Benjamin and James.
Versie received her formal education in Lexington, Mississippi. After graduation, she sttended cosmetology school. Later,
she migrated to Chicago, Illinois to be close to family. Versie and sister, Rosa worked side by side for Ohmite Company. For a
number of years, Versie continued to establish herself as a hard worker and sassy dresser, working within the industry of
Amway Products, Celebrity Jewelry and Queen Way Fashions.
Versie joined St. Paul CME Church to continue in the families rich history of spirituality. She accepted Christ at an early age.
Versie peacefully made her transition on Friday, July 9, 2010, after battling a long illness. Left to cherish fond memories is
her: son, Earl Wlliams, Jr.; two brothers, John Sanders and Henry Sanders (Tessie) both of Chicago, IL; one sister, Flora
Mayweathers of Long Island, NY; one sister in law, Rutha Sanders of Detroit, MI; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grand
children, and two great-graet- grandchildren, and also a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
