Melvin A. Sanders was born in Lexington, Mississippi on June 4, 1943 to his parents, the late Arthur
and Versie Sanders.

He confessed Christ at an early age, uniting with Zion Hill C.M.E.

He attended school at Ambrose Vocational High School and continued his education at Northern
High School, in Detroit.

He later met and married Clara Fitzgerald in Oakland, California on November 7, 1966 and from this
union was born one son, Arthur D. Sanders of Oakland; two daughters, Veronica Y. Sanders of
Oakland, California; Kimberly R. Sanders of Richmond, California.

He departed this life on december 27, 1994 and leaves to mourn his wife, Clara Sanders; four
daughters, Valencia, Veronica, Kimberly and Renee and two sons, Rodney and Arthur Sanders;
Valencia and Rodney were from a previous marriage; eight grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. Mr. Sanders also leaves to mourn him; three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Stansbury of
Chicago, Mrs. Versie Williams of Chicago, Mrs. Flora mayweathers of Atlanta; seven brothers, Willie
Sanders, John Sanders, Arthur Sanders, Benjamin Sanders, Theodore Sanders, Henry sanders,
James Sanders and a host of other relatives and friends.
